- Solar power studies
Currently, 30 remote sites are powered by solar panels, batteries, and charge controllers. We plan to expand this network to provide even better universal remote access. This is a potential testbed for solar experimentation that has not been explored.
- Antenna research
The communication network currently uses 2.4 GHz antennas operating on 802.11abg. We plan to expand into 802.11n and 802.14, and to use multiple antenna arrays. Animal tracking will be in 164.5 MHz. We welcome any interest in these or other frequencies as well.
- Environmental Sensor Development
The Quail Ridge Reserve's various habitats and seasonal changes allow for real-world testing of environmental equipment. The unique communication system allows for two-way communication with sensors. QuRiNet's infrastructure - enclosures, towers, power - can accommodate a broad range of experimentation.
